Program Director


CIVL Radio
Location: Abbotsford, BC

Description:
CIVL Radio is a campus/community radio station located at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, B.C.  CIVL Radio was created to serve, instruct and inform the students, and staff of UFV, and the communities we serve, through the medium of radio broadcasting and through access to the Society's facilities, by offering diverse, alternative, progressive, informative and community-oriented programming, and by bringing thought to form and action.

Qualifications:

The Ideal Candidate Will:


*Have some college or university education.


*Have excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and management skills.


*Have a knowledge of, and association with, campus/community radio.


*Demonstrate a familiarity with a diverse number of genres.


*Have an excellent degree of computer literacy including a knowledge of spread sheet and database applications.


*Have an ability to organize, train and supervise people.


*Exhibit abilities in creative writing and audio production.


*Be motivated and job assertive.


*Have a sense of humour.


*Be able to work under minimal supervision.


*Be technically inclined.


Duties and Responsibilities


*Work with the Board of Directors, Station Manager and the Sales Department.


*Work under the supervision of, and report to, the Station Manager.


*Recruit, coordinate and motivate volunteers interested and or involved in on air programming or general station duties.


*Coordinate the programming show committee with current long term programming visions and programs.


*Discuss programming concerns with programmers and the Station Manager.


*Complete a programming roster that ensures broadcasting adheres to the stations and CRTC's regulations and policies.


*Monitor and maintain programs, program logs, and program schedules.


*Conduct show evaluation meetings with program hosts and review with the Station Manager.


*Provide training and support to volunteers including: technical, music library, spoken word, and news departments.


*Coordinate work study employees with the Station Manager and other temporary positions involved in various programming and other station departments.


*Devise and execute volunteer recruitment strategies with the Station Manager.


*Work with the Station Manager and the Sales department for quality of commercials, public service and promotional announcements.


*Coordinate on air programming for live on air sports broadcasts.


*Be involved in the promotion and public relations of the radio station for on air programming, and on/in the 3 campuses and communities we serve.


*Attend regular meetings with the Board of Directors, Station Manager, program committee and volunteers.


*Maintain a high degree of organization in regards to programming administration work.


*Other duties that may be assigned.




Salary: Please submit your requirements.
Terms:30/35 hours per week / flexible (based on remuneration needs)
