Inbox(1) ~Architecture In Helsinki~Australia has turned into a bit of a hotbed for indie pop acts, Architecture In Helsinki being one of them. And it's true what they say, eight is not enough.
1 of 2 Next> Even though there are eight people in AIH, they barely have enough hands for all the instruments heard on their albums. The latest release, In Case We Die , is jampacked with beautiful pop punktronic arrangements and there's even a bassoon and theremin! So, in a nutshell, Architecture In Helsinki... Name: Kellie Sutherland, James Trelawny Buck Cecil, Cameron David Bird, Isobel Knowles, Gus Franklin, Sam Von Los La Huckle Schnitz Perry, Tara Shackell (T-shack), & James (Jamie) Landsborough Mildren. Your defining feature/quirk? Kellie: My uncanny ability for making inappropriately awful jokes. James: Tall dark handsomeness. Cameron: Missing tooth from horrific bicycling accident Isobel: I get a rash on my arm every time we go on tour. I must be allergic. Gus: My hip replacement...it makes me dance like a loon. Sam: My naked dancing T-shack: My ra-ra. Jamie: Hair. Your recent work of genius? Kellie: Singing "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" by Bonnie Tyler at karaoke to a perfect score of 100%. James: ...was a pun. But you had to be there. Cameron: I got a stain off of my Burmese alphabet T-shirt. That was near impossible. Isobel: I cut Gus' hair last night. He's pretty happy with his new look. Gus: Getting up in the morning.
T-shack: My brand new dance move "the mystery tent" Jamie: Hair. Inspirations/Muses? Kellie: Olivia Newton-John , Van Dyke Parks , Amy Linton , My mum. James: Inspirations - Curtis Mayfield , Ennio Morricone , King Tubby . Muse - My girlfriend. Cameron: Jessica Russell and my 6 dead goldfish Isobel: Xanadu Gus: Shags...he's better than Jesus. Sam: People who aren't what they seem, that constantly surprise you T-shack: Sam Perry Jamie: Tempeh, mountain/ocean air. Favourite book and why? Kellie: Peterson First Guide To Trees: The Concise Field Guide To 243 Common Trees Of North America . Because it helps me through the long drives and I still get to look out the window. James: All The Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy . A welcome respite from the mental impatience brought about by my life in front of computers, and a good substitute for actually being outside in the world. Cameron: What We Talk About When We Talk About Love : Stories by Raymond Carver . Isobel: The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time by Mark Haddon is my favourite out of all the books I've read in the last 2 years. I like books that live outside the reading of them - this one made me get uptight about brown coloured things and feel lucky to see red cars. Gus: Clockwork Orange totally fried my brain when I read it at the age of 16, but since then...i really enjoyed the screenplay adaptation of Ghostbusters . Sam: The BFG , it kept me on the edge T-shack: How do I choose just one book? Jamie: Moby Dick , get back to me when I finish it. 1 of 2 Next> |
