Punk World Order Keeps the Faith

As punk continues to thrive so do the shows that support it

Punk World Order
Punk World Order
Punk Rock. It used to be that campus radio was all about punk rock. Things have changed and it is all a lot more complicated these days. But the punk rock true believers are still out there. And the guys at Punk World Order are keeping the faith. “It's my opinion that if a band doesn't have loud guitars, fast tempos, high-school-poetry lyrics, and nasal or screamed vocals, then I have no use for them whatsoever,” says Tony World Order. “Unless they're Jay Z. He's dope.”

Punk World Order is about anything and everything remotely considered punk rock If you haven’t got the picture yet, Tony clarifies the theme of the show; “anything and everything remotely considered punk rock: pop-punk, hardcore, old school, skate-punk, emo, "screamo", indie, ska, and a little bit of metal.”

Tony and co-hosts Dan Hooligan, and Spunky Friel have been gracing the Ottawa airwaves of CHUO 89.1FM since 1999. “In '02 they really lost their minds and gave us two hours. A decision I'm sure they regret to this day.” Their listeners seem to appreciate it, however. The PWO once put out the call for coffee and donuts and ten people showed up with the snackage. One guy showed up with an “entire garbage bag full of day-old donuts. Mmm..., dumpster donuts.”

Some of PWO’s favourite Punk World Order
We like punk rock, girls, and toilet
humour. Always a good time.
releases of this year are Fight Paris - Paradise Found, Cruiserweight - Sweet Weapondry, Anberlin - Never Take Friendship Personal, Propagandhi - Potemkin City Limits and The Letters Organize - Dead Rhythm Machine.

Punk World Order can be heard every Monday night from midnight to 2am EST on CHUO 89.1FM in Ottawa or online at www.chuo.fm/

Of course, Punk World Order isn’t the only punk show to be found on campus/community radio. As punk continues to thrive so do the shows that support it. Below are just a few of the many punk and loud shows you can tune into across the land.
