Blues, R&B and GospelEric LeBlanc has been collecting records for almost 50 years and he shares them with his listeners every week on Let the Good Times RollMusic and collecting records has been a life-long passion for Eric Leblanc. "I seriously started in about 1958. Mostly 45rpms and 78s and then albums and later CDs," he says. "The one main interest that has been with me since about 1960 is a cappella gospel and black harmony groups." For over 20 years Eric has been exercising his passion for this misc along with blues and R&B on Let the Good Times Roll, a radio program he has done on Victorias CFUV 101.9FM for over 20 years. Let the Good Rimes Roll has been airing every Wednesday night from 8 to 10 PM since CFUV first went on the air in 1984. With thousands of records from his own collection to draw upon, he has no shortage Serious collecting is not for the faint-hearted. "I like all music, but given the cost (and time!) of acquiring all music, you have no choice but to specialize and have a job that can support this habit," he says with a smile. And sometimes it requires some sacrifices. "About two years I sold all my vinyl (it outgrew the house!). It was 18,000 albums. Today, I have about 5,000 CDs." Was it hard to see all those old records go? "It was ok - it was time to move on!" Let the Good Times Roll can be heard online at http://cfuv.uvic.ca every Wednesday night from 8 - 10PM PST.
