Your Top 3 Records Of The Year
In No Particular Order: (I Haven't Gotten That Far Yet)

Sharp Like Knives - No Pressure - (Youth Club)
Oh gawd is right! Everything i love about halifax math rock and they've thrown in some super spazzy keyboard parts.

The Decemberists - The Picaresque - (Kill Rock Stars)
Hands Down, The Best English Major-Rock Album Ever!
Songs About Whales, Soldiers, The Old-Timey Days And Much More. "The Sporting Life" Shows Their Ability To Turn The Beat Up A Little Bit And Shake Your Pantaloons. Also, One Of The Best Live Performances I Caught In 05.

The Burdocks - What We Do Is Secret - (Black Mountain)
The most complete sounding burdocks album to date. Filled with positive angst (if there is such a thing). Another great live band, and an album that is amazing from start to finish.

Most Under-Rated Record Of the Year
Ben Gunning - Beigy Blu125-r (Zunior.Com)
The biggest sleeper of the year, for most local rabbits' fans i guess this is too "mature" for them. Although most rabbits fans are married, have kids and are listening to adult pop. This record totally makes sense if you listened to the rabbits over the years and is ben gunning's step away from rock. Beigy blur is smart, delicious and tender, although i know ben hates it when i call him tender.

Most Over-Rated Record Of The Year
Tangiers - The Family Myth - (Baudelaire)
If i wanted to listen to the strokes and the smiths at the same time i would get 2 cd players and put them in the same room. The family myth is just a way too convenient way to do this. Their first record was great, what the shit happened?

Best Local Release
Bronx Cheerleader - Tough Guy Cliches - (Yummy Recordings)
This is the greatest pop release I've heard in a long time. No only does the album contain superb songwriting, instrumentation, and vocals, but the packaging is beautifully handcrafted. Think of a better, Canadian version of the Shins, with the odd mandolin riff here and there. Yummy Recordings is run by Joe Lapinski who does everything DIY, is super nice, writes great music (Joe Lapinski and Palooka) and he certainly knows what he's doing. Canada meet Yummy, Yummy this is Panada. (shake hands here)

Best Personal Campus/Community Radio Moment
Playing Over 50% Cancon On Almost Every Show This Year.
Starting great relationships with new students.
Having less people calling my show "The Emo Master Plot"
Being Music Director is also very rad.

Record You Are Most Anticipating For 2006
Cat Power's The Greatest. It has to be amazing, it can't be called the greatest for nothing.
Belle and Sebastian's  The Life Pursuit. B & S have not written one bad song period.
