1 | ![]() ![]() Miss Colombia - (Anti-) https://lidopimienta.com/ ![]() Lido Pimienta’s masterpiece, Miss Columbia, finds the Toronto-based Afro/Indigenous/Colombian/Canadian musician and visual artist building on the “nu” intersection of electronica and cumbia established in her first two albums. Introspective and optimistic, complex, emotional, and powerfully original, Pimienta calls the album “a really good representation” of where she is now and where she’s ready to go next. Pimienta realized her vision for Miss Columbia with help from a global array of artists. Collaborators include Toronto musician Matt Smith – aka Prince Nifty, Afro-Columbian artisans Sexteto Tabalà, Liliana Samuet, vocalist of the Colombian electro-vacilon band Bomba Estereo, Santiago de Chile’s indie artist Andrés Nusser, Halifax musician and producer Robert Drisdelle, Columbians Grupo De Danzas Kumbe and Raíces de Palenque, Toronto’s Road to Avonlea Choir, and many others. Miss Columbia is up for a 2021 Grammy Award in the category of Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album. The winner will be announced on January 31st.
