10. What kind of music gear are you using for your music creations? What gear can't you live without and what gear would you like to have someday...

At the moment, we are using various software programs on our two home computers. These are relatively simple programs (including Ableton Live, Evpmaker, Granulab, Audiomulch, Goldwave, Protools Free, and so on), yet they have proven quite sufficient for what we are trying to achieve. To record source sample material manually, we have been using a vintage Solid State Super 500 tape recorder, along with simple cassette hand recorders.

11. You are both students. What are you currently studying?

Davin: I am taking general sciences at the University of Alberta currently.

Kevin: Ditto.

12. What have you been up to lately, musically and otherwise?

Davin: Not much, as of late. Of course, still collecting sounds and samples for the next Keys recording, but that is still quite in the distant future, I presume. Also, I am experimenting with some noisier sounds - expressing my inner noise inclinations I suppose.

Kevin: Haven't been up to too much lately; I've been really enjoying some older Pavement records though, and also slowly learning to love the entire Warp catalogue. Other than that, I'd say that I've been painfully wrapped up in all my academic work.

Life is minimal
13. What is your favorite album of all time, and why?

Davin: Pan American's "The River Made No Sound" because it is just he perfect blend of minimal dub and European minimalism, and it tickles my fancy just about every time I spin it.

Kevin: This is definitely a hard one to settle upon, but probably "Beautiful Blood" by Daniel Menche. Deep, powerful noise-drone - what's better?

14. What sort of idea or concept is "Ariel Winter" based upon, if any?

Well, we could go on for quite some time talking about what we had in mind for the recording, but this is hardly as relevant as what the take of the individual listeners on the music. We have well defined the lines of division in the work and we encourage the listener to experience it in a way he or she feels wholly adequate. The idea is one of a minimized truth all people inevitably harbor, and the consequential ramifications that may result if left untouched. These are conversations.
