Ryan Ferguson13. Would you ever change your sound to get on a label?

My ever changing sound is probably what will keep me off of a label.. ha..  No, I don't think I'd do that.

14. Major vs Indie. Do you think it even matters anymore?

There's always been a place for both, some of my favorite records came from the major label system.  The fact that it's possible today for people to make a fairly comfortable living being indie is great but at the same time it's brought a whole different business oriented approach to the 'indie' world which may not be the best in the long run.  It would be fun to get a bunch of money from a major to build a nice studio with then just keep submitting records they'll hate until they drop you.

15. Tell me about the gear you use. what are your fav items and why are they essential to your sound.

Ryan FergusonI could probably go out and play with just my old Alesis Quadraverb and the Boss Loop Station those are the two most important pieces of gear.  The Loop Station is far from perfect but it allows me to do so many different things live that I was only able to do on recordings prior.  The Quadraverb just has a few sounds in it that I use all the time, the reverbs in it don't sound like any others.  Generally my setup changes quite frequently, pedals come and go pretty much from month to month.  I play a Gibson Les Paul Studio guitar, Korg MS-10 synth and Roland SPD-8 drum machine.  I also always use a Digitech RDS-8000 for delay.

16. You just got 3, 000 dollars. What would you buy first. second. third.

$3000 worth of recording help or pressed cds.

17. Tell me about the best show you have played.

The best I've felt at the end of one of my shows was in Montreal this past November, I've never felt so good walking off stage as I did that night.

19. Now tell me about the worst.

Ryan FergusonNone have been the worst, just a couple of strange ones.  There are so many different ways you can look at a live show as being a success. Everytime may not be great, but there's always something to walk away with that makes it worthwhile.

20. Were you nervous at first playing solo sets? If so, how did you overcome this?

I still get nervous most of the time.  When I first started to play solo shows I'd get it really bad, not so much stage fright as 'what will I do if something goes wrong' anxiety.  Things have gone wrong enough times that I don't really worry about that anymore, just take it as it comes and move on.

21. Top three bands you would love to open for.

(all time)
Spacemen3
Jefferson Airplane
Talk Talk circa 1990 even though they didn't play live then

(current)
Ghost
Boris
Acid Mothers Temple
