Sticky Rice ( )

Take Out
Bobby Dazzler ( )

In terms of representing a perfect fit when it comes to a band's chosen name, Toronto's Sticky Rice are one certifiable arch-example.

Consider the instant mental connections. Sticky: denotes a difficulty of removal; something cohesive and bound; forged to you whether you like it or not. Rice: a staple; there's few surprises with rice you know precisely what youre going to get; gosh, it's good.

And so it is with Sticky Rice's debut CD, produced by none other than the ubiquitous Ian Blurton. Sloppy garage hooks and rocker girl at-ti-tude (without the cloying cuteness of Cub or occasional annoyance factor of Maow), all delivered in a less-than-30-minute suckerpunch. Why, you could very reasonably cook an entire meal in the time it takes to listen end-to-end (and there's a perfectly fitting heat-in-the-kitchen reference just waiting to peek through).

Sometimes you don't want fondue. Fast, easy, and fun: I present to you, Sticky Rice.

RECOMMENDED TRACKS: Defenses Down, Champion, The Weed Song
