My Top records of the year

BlaxxBreathless – (None)
This tune was and still is one of the most heard tunes for this year.  It was my personal pick for Roadmarch 2008 in Trinidad & Tobago

Zan Out on de Road – (None)
One of my favourites although I don’t fancy the remix

Superman also known as Mr. Pringles Socaritis – (Studio 758)
This tune destroyed St. Lucia and is having great impact in other Caribbean Islands

Ricky T Wheel & Come Again – (Studio 758)
This track copped the title of the Roadmarch Title in St. Lucia for 2008

Skinny FabulousHead Bad – (None)
This tune is just sick!

Machel Montano Make Love – (Ruff Rex)
This was a nice groovy Soca tune; I was not impressed with the remix though!

Ricky T Party Cya Done – (Studio 758)
The name says it all.  With the infectious folk drumming and Caribbean, Zouk flavour this tune is a keeper

Ricky T Toxic – (Studio 758)
Despite that this tune was written specifically for a Carnival Band in St. Lucia called Toxic during St. Lucia’s Carnival Season, the tune fell into the hands of various djs around the Caribbean and became an instant hit

Isla Man Mad So – (Studio 758)
This tune represents pure chaos; it certainly created mass chaos in St. Lucia and it continues to rip up the airwaves of the other Caribbean Islands

Fay Ann Lyons Alvarez - Get On Carnival Day Roadmix – (None)
The Roadmix produced by Razorshop made me like this tune.  This song was the 2008 Roadmarch winning tune of Trinidad & Tobago

Pelf - Bumpers – (Ma$tamind Productions)
This was a huge tune for the Carnival season!

Da Ma$tamind and Patch De Tail Gone – (Ma$tamind Productions)
This was probably the most hilarious tune for 2008.  A very huge tune!

Pupa Leendi Rum Oh – (None)
This is a huge tune; it took the Caricou Roadmarch title!

Zoelah Wine up on me – (None)
One of my favourite Groovy Soca tunes for the year out of St. Vincent & the Grenadines

Problem ChildFor Life – (None)
This tune was another of my favourites from St. Vincent & the Grenadines

Machel Montano HD Blazin D Trail Studio 758 Roadmix – (Ruff Rex & Studio 758)
I was not impressed with this tune until I heard this Roadmix!

Most under-rated record of the year

Harella Higher – (None)
I thought this tune was a good groovy Soca tune with a great message; it’s too bad it did not get enough radio play

Most over-rated record of the year

Fay Ann Lyons Alvarez Get On – (None)
The original tune in general was way overated in my perspective!  I love the riddim and the Roadmix but I still believe that the lyrics were lacking!

Machel Montano HD Blazin D Trail – (Ruff Rex)
Everytime I hear this tune it reminds me of a track from 2007; I was really unimpressed with this tune and thought it was overrated; however; the Roadmix pulled its weight in propelling the tune

Best local release

Kerwin Du Bois 2 Days – (None)
This tune is huge! Great riddim and Great Lyrics; it’s also one of my favourites for the year

Maffie We Badda dan dem – (None)
This song from Vancouver based Vincentian, Maffie has some hype to it.
Best personal campus/community radio moment or experience of the year

There are so many but I must say that all the interviews from Soca Artists to the Reggae Artists inclusive of all the producers were great.  I hope to continue interviewing them

Record you are most anticipating for 2009Da Ma$tamind and Patch Rum & Roti – (Ma$tamind Productions)
I already have this tune but the wave that this track is going to create will be great! It is already creating a stir!

Destra Garcia.  Basically anything from her who happens to be my favourite Soca Artist

Ricky T.  This St. Lucian has excelled in the Soca music scene in the past three years of being on the scene with copping various titles with his countless number of big tunes.  I am looking forward to what he is coming with next.

Superman also known as Mr. Pringles.  This St. Lucian had a tune which still remains one of my favourites for the year,  Socaritis.  This tune did very well in St. Lucia and is wreaking havoc in the other Caribbean Islands.  I am interested to see what he has to offer next.

Ma$tamind Productions which consists of Shawn Noel & Natasha Andrews-Noel.  Anything these two come up with turns to Gold!!

Penn & Ace of (Studio 758 Records) in St. Lucia.  Basically anything they produce are wicked tunes

Zan Slip Away – (None)
I already have my hands on this tune and it should do well for 2009. I am looking forward to any others from him

Any Roadmixes; I am a huge fan of Roadmixes especially when they are done by: Ma$tamind Productions,  Razorshop, Studio 758, Precision Productions
