The Postal Service ( )

Give Up
Sub Pop ( http://www.subpop.com/ @subpop )
Sub Pop puts out electronica now? Have I been living under a rock? The Postal Service (Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Figurine/Dntel's Jimmie Tamborello) definitely do a good job at cute pop electronica. Not sprocketsy, not like Ladytron, mind you - more like a twee-pop Kraftwerk, or the better bits of Trembling Blue Stars meet Collette Carter. "Such Great Heights" and "There's Never Enough Time", the two Postal Service tracks on this CD, could easily be translated to indie-rock: but they would both still be pretty pop songs, not just Danelectros played by bedheads in search of an image consultant. As it stands, while nothing on the CD quite approaches the sublime pop perfection of "Nothing Better" from their full-length, I'd say this is still a CD worth spinning.
