Troy Lemberg
Hi, I am Troy Lemberg the Music Director here at CFUV 101.9FM in Victoria BC.
I am also the host of The Action Index a loud show on our schedule. I also book shows in Victoria. I have been the MD at CFUV for just over 3 months now but have been involved in C/C radio for ten years now.My Top Records of 2016
Angel Du$t – Rock The Fuck On Forever (Pop Wig)
A Balitmore based hardcore band which has been firmly rooted in writing pop influenced records over the past few albums. Catchy tunes that get to the point in under 2 minutes.

Gouge Away - , dies (Eighty-Sixed)
This band played pretty early at a festival I was at earlier this year and stole the show for me. Political, pissed off music to inspire others to action.

Solange – A Seat At The Table (Columbia)
Solange’s last EP was my top album of that year so I have been waiting earnestly for this next release. It has only been out for a short while and it is already one of my top records of the year.

Margo Price – Midwest Farmer’s Daughter (Third Man)
Adding a 4th pick on here as this was a landmark for me personally as a music collector. This record marked the first Country record to make it into my personal collection. I bought in after seeing her SNL performance earlier in the year and proceeded to spin it on the radio.

Best local release
Iceberg Ferg – In The Valley Of The Purple Prince (Self-Released)
Iceberg Ferg shows are always delightful and such a nice treat on our island. I seem to always go back to a performance from a year ago sitting on a lawn listening to him play outdoors. He brings in an early blues sound with a modern folk/pop leaning. This album has since been issued on vinyl now on Triple Crown Audio Recordings of Canada.

Best live show you saw this year
Sheer Mag at The Astoria in Vancouver. Vocalist Tina Halladay has such a commanding presence live. Totally worth checking out even when a lot of Sheer Mags tracks kind of blend into each other she makes it worthwhile.
Runner up show: Wolf Parade secret show in Nanaimo.
Most under-rated record of the year
Twist – Spectral (Buzz)
Twist put out a great full length and toured the States/Canada with it. The response out West seemed as if no one gave this record a chance. They played a cool show here in Victoria.
Most over-rated record of the year
White Lung – Paradise (Domino)
This record just didn’t live up to my expectations of a White Lung record. Sorry remains my favourite release of theirs.
Record you are most anticipating for 2017
The Courtneys – The Courtneys II (Flying Nun)
New music from the Courtneys! Always wanting more music from them since every release seems to only be a few songs!
